The
2-Layer Beaded Tassel
A Lady
Montana Design
Materials
1/4th yard of 4" or 6" long
beaded fringe
1/8th yard of 2.5" long beaded fringe
1/8th yard of gimp
Thread to match gimp
8"-10" beaded lamp chain
chain connector
Modge Podge
Small brush
Directions
1. Mark the center point of the long beaded fringe along the
twill taped edge. Place the lamp chain on this edge so that it lies at the marked center point and is
perpendicular to it. Also place it so at least one inch of the chain
will be inside the tassel once rolled. Secure the chain to
the twill tape with a few hand stitches.
2. Beginning at one end, tightly roll the top edge of the longer beaded
fringe. Take enough stitches back and forth through the rolled twill tape to secure.
3. Roll the shorter beaded fringe around the rolled fringe you have
just secured. Stitch as described above until this second layer is also secure.
4. Place the gimp at an angle next to the chain and take a few stitches
to secure. Cover the twill tape with the gimp, taking stitches as you go. Stitching along the top and
bottom edge will pull these edges in, helping to create a domed effect.
5. Paint a light coating of Modge Podge over the gimp. Once it is dried
to the point of being clear, but is not yet completely dry, press to further accentuate the domed
effect. Once completely dry, apply one or two more coats of Modge Podge.
6. Place the chain connector at the top end of the beaded lamp chain.
Note: If
wishing to make a one layer chain, purchase 1/3 yard of 4" to 6" long
beaded fringe.
Please note that you may copy, print and create
this design for personal use only.
It may not be made for resale.
