Cutting
Directions
From your calico cut:
1.
2 10.5" circles
2.
1 rectangle measuring 15" wide x 18" long for bag
3.
2 rectangles measuring 10" wide x 8" long for ruffles
From your
Warm n' Natural cut:
1. 1 10.5" circle
2.
1 rectangle measuring 15" wide x 8.5" long
Creating the Base
1.
Fold one fabric circle in half and lightly press.
2.
Open the circle and fold in half the opposite way. Lightly press.
Open
the circle. You've created an X on your open
circle.
3. Cut 6 ribbon sections, each
measuring 2.25" long.
4. Fold one of your
ribbon pieces in half, wrong sides together.
5.
With your circle open, pin the folded ribbon to the right side at
one of
the fold lines so that all raw edges meet.
However, slightly stagger the
sides of the ribbon so they do not lie completely on
top of one another.
This will allow your button to sit nicely once
completed.
6.
Repeat step 5, but place this second ribbon on the opposite end of
the
same fold line.
7.
Repeat step 5, but place this third ribbon 1/2 way between the first
ribbon and the second pressed fold. You are not
placing this third
ribbon directly on the second fold line.
8.
Repeat step 8 with the remaining three ribbon sections.
9.
Right sides together, pin both circles to one another.
Place the Warm n'
Natural circle on top and
pin. Stitch
all three layers together 1/4" from
the
raw, leaving an open section so you can turn the circle.
10.
Trim the edges and notch the circle. Turn. Hand stitch opening
closed.
Lightly press.
Creating the Bag
1. Place your fabric
rectangle wrong side up with one of the short sides
closest to you. Place the Warm n' Natural™
on the bottom half of your
fabric rectangle, 1/4" from the fabric's raw
edge. The short sides of the
Warm n' Natural™
should align with the raw edges
of the rectangle's
long sides. Stitch each side.
2.
Turn the bottom edge of the fabric rectangle to wards the Warm n'
Natural™
1/4" and lightly press.
3. Turn the opposite short side 1/4"
and lightly press.
4.
Right sides together, pin the long side of your fabric rectangle in
half.
Stitch along the entire length, catching each 1/4"
pressed fold. Press
the seam open.
5.
Fold this tube in half, wrong sides together. Pin the turned edges
together and run a gathering stitch 1/8" from the
edge. Do not yet
gather.
Creating the
Ruffle
1.
Turn each short end of one ruffle
section under 1/4" and lightly
press.
2.
Fold the long end of this ruffle section in half, right sides
together.
Place a pin on each side 13/8"
from each raw edge.
3.
Stitch from the fold to the pin on each side.
4.
Turn and press each seam open.
5.
Machine stitch 1/8"
from the pressed seam along each of the four 13/8"
open lengths.
6.
Stitch across the
ruffle 13/8" from the 1/4" pressed fold.
7.
Center this ruffle along one side of the bag so that one pressed
fold is
one side of the bag and the second is on the
opposite side. Baste and
then machine stitch 1/8" from the fold.
8.
Repeat the above with the second ruffle section.
Finishing
1. Gather the
bottom of the bag as tightly as possible and tie off.
2.
Run cording through
the casing. Knot each end of the cording. Cut the
remaining end close to the knot. Dab Liquid
Stitch™
onto each knot and
allow to dry.
3.
Stitch one button to the bag at the seam line, 31/2" below
the top of the
bag. Stitch the second button in the same place
on the opposite side of
the bag. It will then be easy to attach the
remaining four buttons in their
proper position.
4.
Cut two lengths of
velvet ribbon, each measuring 7.25". Turn the end of
each under 1/4" and secure with Liquid Stitch.
Carefully place Liquid
Stitch along each lengths back side before
placing 1/8" from bottom
edge of each ruffle.
5.
Slide your saucer into it's place under the bag and button it up.
Put
your
cup in the bag, tie the drawstring into a bow, and head to tea.
